Who should register for the event?

This Showcase event is for elementary, high school and post-secondary students, educators and career explorers to learn about the wide variety of careers the mining industry has to offer. It connects participants to a network of diverse and passionate Career Ambassadors and features webinars highlighting their stories of working in mining.

Attendees can register as individuals or educators can register their entire class as one group.

The Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR) and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) are proud to present the national We Need Mining. Mining Needs You Career Ambassador Showcase!

The mining industry is home to innovative technology, inspiring workers and exciting career paths. From metallurgy to exploration, mining engineering and skilled trades, administration and environmental remediation, there is a fulfilling career for everyone in mining. Learn about the innovative world of mining, its talented workforce and why you should consider a career in the industry by joining us March 27, 2023, for this national mining career ambassador showcase!

The event features talks by mining professionals, post-secondary students and educators, and gives youth the opportunity to speak with career ambassadors about their personal experiences in the mining industry. Come hear stories like “A day in the life of a mine Health and Safety Manager”, or learn what life is like working as a mining engineer at the We Need Mining. Mining Needs You Career Ambassador Showcase!

ABOUT THE CAREER AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

What is the Career Ambassador Program?

Developed in partnership between the Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR) and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), the We Need Mining. Mining Needs You. Career Ambassador Program connects knowledgeable and passionate industry representatives with youth to increase awareness of the breadth of career opportunities mining offers and the sector’s role in environmental sustainability, social responsibility and technological innovation.

Through virtual and in-person speaking engagements organized with high schools, post-secondary institutions and other groups, Career Ambassadors tell their mining stories, provide guidance, and promote the sector and its numerous benefits and career opportunities.
